Kenya na Eritrea zimefikia uamuzi wa kukomesha mahitaji ya visa kati ya mataifa hayo mawili.
Rais William Ruto na mwenzake wa Eritrea Isaias Afwerki hii leo walifanya mazungumzo baina ya nchi hizo mbili mjini Nairobi, ambapo walikubaliana kuandaa mipango ya kina ya ushirikiano katika sekta mbalimbali zikiwemo za kilimo, biashara na uwekezaji miongoni mwa mengine.
Ili kuimarisha uhusiano baina ya nchi hizo mbili, Kenya sasa itafungua uwakilishi wa misheni ya kidiplomasia huko Asmara, mji mkuu wa Eritrea.
Eritrea inakuwa nchi ya pili kufungua mipaka yake kwa Wakenya baada ya Afrika kusini kufanya hivyo mwezi Novemba mwaka jana.

Rais Ruto amesema kuwa hatua imefungua njia ya ushirikiano kwa amani na maendeleo ya kikanda. Rais Afwerki kwa upande wake amedokeza kuwa Eritrea imejitolea kuchukua hatua zitakazowezesha kuimarika kwa uhusiano wa kiuchumi, kijamii na kiutamaduni na Kenya.
Tutaendelea kukuza uwekezaji wa pamoja na kufanya kazi pamoja kuelekea kuimarisha amani na usalama endelevu.
