Kuhusiana na suala la uchumi, Chelugui amesema kuwa mfumo wa uchumi ambao umekuwa ukitumika humu nchini kwa muda mrefu ndio chanzo kikubwa cha changamoto zinazokumba wakenya. Wa pili kufika mbele ya kamati hiyo ni aliyekuwa gavana wa Kwale Salim Mvurya na ambaye kwa sasa ameteuliwa kama waziri wa madini na masuala ya baharini. Mvurya amesema kuwa iwapo serikali itawekeza katika kuwasaidi wavuvi wa humu nchini basi mapato yanaweza yakaongezeka kutoka shilingi bilioni 27 hadi shilingi bilioni 150 au shilingi bilioni 300. Naye waziri mteule wa Leba Florence Bore ambaye amekuwa wa tatu kuhojiwa amesema kuwa iwapo ataidhinishwa, atahakikisha wakenya wanaofanya kazi ughaibuni wanakuwa na hazina ya ustawi ili wakati wowote wanapatwa na dharura wanaweza kusaidiwa. Kando na hayo ameeleza kuwa wanapaswa kuwa na bima ya afya itakayogharamia matibabu wanapougua.
